Judbury

Meticulously crafted and seamlessly attuned to both performance and place.

A secret escape nestled in the hills of the Huon Valley, this bespoke architectural home balances a minimalistic industrial aesthetic with intricate interior textures and hand-crafted materials.

From chemically distressed light fittings and bespoke tapware to tailored joinery and herringbone feature tiles, every element has been curated to soften and enrich the interior spaces. The house features hand-cut stone, insulated burnished concrete floors that bank solar passive gain, and sweeping double-glazed windows that promote natural crossflow and frame breathtaking northern views across the landscape.

In our client’s words

We worked with Skookom over a couple of years to build a house in Judbury. Overall, we found it a very positive experience and the finished product was outstanding. The team was professional and engaging, the quality of workmanship was extremely high, and their regular suggestions to us and our architects added genuine value throughout.

Building through and after the challenges of Covid and supply chain issues, their flexibility made a huge difference. I would have no hesitation recommending the Skookom team to anyone looking for a quality final product and a rewarding, collaborative experience.

This home is built with intention—from its handmade custom entry door and stained timber acoustic paneling to a layout that captures sunlight and celebrates its natural surroundings. Every detail is an expression of considered design and construction, bringing together durability, elegance, and performance.
