Birchs Bay

Birchs Bay Farm sits high above the Channel with amazing water and bush views.

Scott or “Farmer Brown” as we now call him, planned the move from the family farm in the Fingal Valley to Birchs Bay to develop a place where not only extended family can visit, but also create a B&B for travellers to experience farm life in a spectacular scenic setting with the ultimate host to match.

In our client’s words

I engaged Skookom without hesitation after my daughter's very positive experience with the Company in her South Hobart 2012 renovation … I could not be happier with the result and the entire experience with Skookom from start to finish was a very professional one.

With the help of designer Greg Eade, various living spaces private from other guests were achieved within the current footprint, and a new modern saw tooth roofline extension incorporated a new kitchen/living/dining space for Scotts private residence. High ceilings allowed for high picture windows to capture the treed terrain at the rear whilst panoramic views to the front were uninterrupted by floor to ceiling glass.

Reborn from the existing 1990’s pink brick veneer home, we rendered the entire external lifting the home into the modern era showing off the form and shape of the building and complementing the new.

We also erected a barn that is used as a tennis court clubhouse, pool room, table tennis and shearing shed. It would have to be one of the most scenic tennis courts we have ever had the pleasure of playing on.

Attention to detail and finish and the very flexible approach to changes that inevitably occur with major makeovers was excellent.
